MODES OF
TRANSMISSION
Ø
The way
in which data is transmitted from one device to another device is known as
transmission mode .
Ø
The transmission
mode is also known as the communication mode .
Ø
Each communication
channel has a directional associated with it and transmission media provide the
direction .
Ø
The transmission
mode id defined in the physical layer .
TRANSMISSION MODE
1.
SIMPLEX
MODE
2.
HALF
DUPLUEX MODE
3.
FULL
DUPLEX MODE
Simplex mode :
a)
In simplex mode , the communication in unidirectional.
b)
A device
can only send the data but cannot receive it or
it can receive the data but cannot send the data .
c)
The radio
station is a simplex channel as it transmit the signal to the listener but never allows them to
transmit back
Half duplex mode :
a)
In half
duplex channel direction can be reversed .
b)
Message
flow in both the directions , but not at the same time .
c)
In half
duplex mode , it is possible to perform the error detection and if any error
occurs , then the receivers request the sender to transmit the data .
d)
A walkie
taklie is an example of half duplex mode one party speaks and another party
listens .
FULL DUPLEX
MODE
a)
In full
duplex mode , the communication is bidirectional
b)
Both the
stations can send and receive the message simultaneously.
c)
Full duplex
mode has two simplex channels .One channel has traffic moving in one direction ,
and another channel has traffic flowing
in the opposite direction .
d) The full duplex mode is the fastest mode of communication between devices .
